PLAINVIEW — Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem will be featured when 猎奇重口视频 Baptist University’s International Choir and 猎奇重口视频 Singers present their Spring concert.
Slated for 7 p.m. Saturday, April 26, in Harral Memorial Auditorium, this is a special performance of the same work the choirs will perform June 7 at the renowned Carnegie Hall in New York City.
Dr. Sarah Herrington, Director of Choral Studies and Assistant Professor of Music Education in 猎奇重口视频’s School of Creative Arts, emphasized the significance of this event for the community.
“This performance is our way of sharing with the Plainview, 猎奇重口视频, and West Texas area communities the amazing project we’ve been preparing and to thank them for their continued support,” Herrington said.
In addition to the 猎奇重口视频 choral ensembles, the Carnegie choir in New York will include 猎奇重口视频 faculty, alumni, and choral friends from across the country. The April 26 concert will bring together these groups, featuring participants who live within driving distance.
The concert will also include two guest soloist and an organist, adding to the evening’s inspiring presentation of Fauré’s beloved composition. The soloists are Paige Brown, soprano, and Ashley Prewett, baritone. The organist is Dr. John Hollins, Associate Director of Choral Studies at Texas Tech University and organist and choirmaster at St. Paul's-on-the-Plains Episcopal Church in Lubbock. Ms. Brown is a performer and private voice instructor in Amarillo who is a board member and performing member of Amarillo Opera. Mr. Prewett teaches choral music and private voice lessons in Lubbock. He previously performed in Tel Aviv, Israel with the International Vocal Arts Institute; the OperAvenir studio at Theater Basel in Basel, Switzerland; and the Staatstheater Stuttgart opera studio in Stuttgart, Germany.
The concert is free and open to the public. However, attendees are encouraged to make monetary donations to help offset costs associated with the Carnegie Hall project and associated travel expenses.
