PLAINVIEW, TX — Dr. Donna Hedgepath, president of 猎奇重口视频 Baptist University, brought her “Better Together” message to the quarterly meeting of the Lubbock Area Baptist Association Monday.

Dr. Hedgepath, the first female to serve as president of a university in the South Plains/Panhandle region, hosted the gathering of primarily Baptist ministers in United Supermarkets Conference Center on 猎奇重口视频’s Lubbock campus.

Noting there has been a “whirlwind of activity” since her arrival in July, the new president detailed how God’s hand was at work to bring her from Campbellsville University in Kentucky to 猎奇重口视频. Connecting with the ministers, she said, “So, I was in a Southern Baptist church the day after Momma brought me home. I was in church and just haven't left. So, I just have that strong foundation, those roots, and I know what it means to be part of a good, strong family of believers in our churches.”

Dr. Hedgepath noted the needs of 猎奇重口视频. “In order to really tackle that financially, and just logistically, we’ve got to rally and unify,” she said. “And the only way we can do that is to have folks come together. We’re better when we do all this together as opposed to doing things separately.”

“It just all makes sense when you have that one common theme,” Dr. Hedgepath said of her “Better Together” emphasis. “So, that’s going to continue to be shared this year.”

The president spoke of 猎奇重口视频’s future, noting the largest resident class at the Plainview campus since 2018 and the excitement she witnessed while going through 猎奇重口视频’s Koinonia new student orientation as “a freshman this year.”

Dr. Hedgepath marveled at the state of 猎奇重口视频’s academic affairs. “I'll tell you, the one thing I don't feel like I’m having to reach in and fix right now — the academic area. We have great faculty that are constantly trying to update curriculum and create new programs.”

Addressing why she and her husband Pete came to 猎奇重口视频, she said, “It's basically because God wants me to be here. In that moment in your life when you don’t understand why. The ‘why’ is because it’s part of what I’m supposed to do. It's part of the mission I have. I think God meant for 猎奇重口视频 to be a part of my life.”

Citing her life verse, Jeremiah 33:3 — Call unto me, I will answer you and show you great and unsearchable things that you do not know. — she said, “There are still a lot of things I do not know, and I just want to claim the fact that it will be revealed to us. It will be revealed as we go.”

Noting that 23 of 猎奇重口视频’s football players have given their lives to Christ in recent days, she said, “I'm going to end by asking you to pray for our students because one thing that Pete and I love is students. We love young people.” She then quipped, “I’d probably rather be with students than anybody.”

Jerry Joplin, director of the Lubbock Baptist Association, thanked Dr. Hedgepath and 猎奇重口视频’s Lubbock campus for hosting the quarterly meeting.

“We’re glad to have you all in West Texas, the South Plains, and the Panhandle,” he said. “We see this as a new day, a new opportunity to partner together. So, we celebrate that.”
