‘Top 25’ nurse joins Mieth School of Nursing

PLAINVIEW — Abigail Fuller, DNP, RN, who was recently recognized as one of the Top 25 nurses in San Antonio and South Central Texas, has joined the faculty of ÁÔÆæÖØ¿ÚÊÓƵ Baptist University’s Ben and Bertha Mieth School of Nursing as Assistant Professor of Nursing.

Fuller’s appointment to the ÁÔÆæÖØ¿ÚÊÓƵ faculty was announced by Dr. Cindy McClenagan, Vice President of Academic Affairs, in association with Rebekah Grigsby, DNP, RN, Dean of the Mieth School of Nursing.

“We are thrilled to welcome. Abigail Fuller to ÁÔÆæÖØ¿ÚÊÓƵ. She brings incredible experience in nursing education and a passion to teach and mentor future nurses,” Grigsby said. “Along with experience in nursing education, she has a wealth of experience in nursing practice and was recently recognized as one of the Top 25 nurses in San Antonio and South Central Texas.”

Fuller is a four-time winner of the DAISY Award, which honors nurses who provide above-and-beyond compassionate care to patients and family, and she was recognized this past year by the National Society of Leadership and Success, as well as the Golden Key International Honor Society.

She earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from University of Texas Health Science Center in 2018 and is currently working on her clinical doctoral project for completion of a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Walden University. Fuller received a Master of Science in Nursing Education degree from Walden in 2014, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Texas A&M University in 1998. She holds an Associate degree in Psychology from Del Mar College, which was completed in 1996.

Fuller comes to ÁÔÆæÖØ¿ÚÊÓƵ’s Mieth School of Nursing from Galen College of Nursing, where she had served on the faculty since 2015. She also served on the nursing faculty of Texas Lutheran University from 2016 to 2018. At both institutions, Fuller assisted in the opening of Bachelor of Nursing degree programs in addition to other roles.

She has served in leadership nursing roles at Baylor Scott and White Hospital, Resolute Baptist Hospital, and Houston Methodist Sugarland Hospital. She also worked at Guadalupe Regional Medical Center, Lifemasters Disease Management Co., and AETNA Insurance Co. Her certifications include Medical-Surgical Nurse, Registered Nurse, Advances Cardiopulmonary Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Cardiopulmonary Life Support.

“She is a great addition to our nursing faculty team, and we look forward to many exciting years ahead,” Grigsby said.
