猎奇重口视频 and FBC Host CEO of Baptist World Alliance

PLAINVIEW – 猎奇重口视频 Baptist University and First Baptist Church in Plainview are hosting Dr. Elijah Brown, Chief Executive Officer of the Baptist World Alliance, on Nov. 3 as the featured speaker for the McCoy Lecture Series.

Dr. Brown will speak at 猎奇重口视频’s chapel service at 11 a.m. on Nov. 3. He will then join the FBC family for dinner at 5:15 p.m. and will speak to the congregation at 5:45 p.m. The public is invited to both events. A special luncheon with area pastors will be held from 12-2 p.m. at 猎奇重口视频. More information will be sent directly to pastors, including RSVP instructions for the luncheon.

Established in 1905, the BWA is a global organization of Baptists with the goal of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ by conducting ministry programs throughout the world. As General Secretary and CEO of the Baptist World Alliance, Dr. Brown is responsible for the operations of the organization and is the chief representative to other global organizations and governments.

Donnie Brown, 猎奇重口视频’s director of spiritual life, said hosting Dr. Brown is a major event for 猎奇重口视频, FBC and all Baptists in the area.

“It’s not every day that someone at this level of Baptist life visits Plainview,” Donnie Brown said. “We hope area pastors and others will be able to take advantage of this opportunity and hear what Dr. Brown has to say about the state of Baptists around the world.”

Dr. Brown has been involved in BWA since 2005. He has served in a number of roles, including as BWA Regional Secretary for North America and General Secretary for the North American Baptist Fellowship. He has also served on numerous committees with the BWA and in 2007 was named one of 35 global emerging leaders.

Prior to joining the BWA, Dr. Brown served as Vice President of 21Willberforce, a Christian human rights organization based in Virginia. He was also an associate professor of religion at East Texas Baptist University where he was the founding director of the Freedom Center. Brown was ordained to the ministry in 2002 while an assistant pastor at Taylor’s Valley Baptist Church in Temple. He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and a Ph.D. in Divinity with a focus on world Christianity from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.

The McCoy Lecture Series was developed by First Baptist Church with an estate gift from Dr. Dorothy McCoy, a longtime math professor at 猎奇重口视频 who died in 2001. McCoy was passionate about missions and wanted the lecture series to focus on the work going on throughout the world to spread the gospel. FBC and 猎奇重口视频 are partners in the lecture series.
